Pillow Talk

This writing below was in my FaceBook memories from 5 years ago. I had completely forgotten about it. Reading it this morning, I was able to see that God has since been continually teaching me about the mending of broken things. I hope to write more about that journey. But for now, here’s a short “pillow talk”.

Pillow Talk- February 7, 2014

“I know I tend to overthink things. I have been around myself for a long time…

So… this morning as I was removing my pillowcase from my pillow, stuffing flew everywhere!
First thought to self… “I gotta get a new pillow”. Second thought to self… “This is what you do. You toss out and start over with something new. Why not “mend” the thing? Why not fix or finish what is in front of you now, before running off to the new or next thing? Are you afraid you won’t do it right, or as well as someone else; Or are you just lazy??”…hmmm….and Ugh.”
Again, I know that was a whole lot to get from pillow stuffing, but it seemed good to pause and take note … Now I’m going to get out the needle and thread.”

Psalm 147:3

He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.

I’m an empty-nester mom from Franklin, Tennessee. I live with my husband of 25 years, Richard. I am blessed with friends and family who love me, encourage me…and talk me into doing stuff that scares me. Over the years I have shared my writings with them and they suggested I start this blog. So…. here it is. I offer it with one hand over my face, peeking through my fingers as I click on the word “publish” … hoping with all my heart you find something meaningful here. Mishelle Phillips
