Thou art my seter (hiding place, shelter); Thou shalt preserve me from tzoros (trouble); Thou shalt envelop me with songs of deliverance. Selah.
Psalm (Tehillim) 32:7
I love reading from the Orthodox Jewish Bible. The language is so rich. My favorite word in this verse is “envelop”. Can you feel its warmth, its comfort?…like a blanket on a cold, drizzly, dreary night.
“…envelop me with songs of deliverance”
Here is Charles Spurgeon’s beautiful interpretation of this phrase:
“…Man is encircled in song,
surrounded by dancing mercies,
all of them proclaiming the triumphs of grace.”
When we are in need of a hiding place …alone, afraid, overwhelmed, hopeless…He comes to us in our trouble and shelters us. He wraps us in His arms of grace. He surrounds us with His tender mercies and loving kindness. And though nothing at all may have changed…we find we are safe and secure. And we know… all will be Well…
