The Word Became Flesh…

When I take the time to REALLY let it sink in, it kind of overwhelms me….
The Messiah, God in the flesh…He really came.
He grew up, lived among us, felt what we feel and showed us how to live and love in a way that defies all systems of this world….last is first, to die is to live, little is much, strength in weakness, love for hate…senseless Truth. It doesn’t add up, until we pay attention to what makes us weary, and what brings us to life. Guarding our “place”, always trying to be first or the best, holding a grudge…those things can be exhausting!
I would venture to say that whenever we have given up our “place” in line, at the table, in heavy traffic or in a church pew …,or given of our time, talents or resources, especially when we felt we had little to offer,…or have chosen not to retaliate but to offer kindness or forgiveness…those seem to be the times we feel this thrill of hope, that this weary, broken world can be better!
The Word (of Truth) put on skin like mine and yours and came to show us how to do things down here! Wow…just wow. What if I really acted like I believed that every minute? I probably wouldn’t be nearly so tired sometimes….

I’m an empty-nester mom from Franklin, Tennessee. I live with my husband of 25 years, Richard. I am blessed with friends and family who love me, encourage me…and talk me into doing stuff that scares me. Over the years I have shared my writings with them and they suggested I start this blog. So…. here it is. I offer it with one hand over my face, peeking through my fingers as I click on the word “publish” … hoping with all my heart you find something meaningful here. Mishelle Phillips

  1. Good morning precious daughter. This was such an awesome WORD of encouragement. What a revelation if we could get it. Help us oh God, as we strive to be more like Jesus, our great example. I love Mishelle and Merry Christmas to you, Richard, Bailey and Abby.
